Rivian’s pivot to Ill. plant for R2 model saves time, money vs. future Georgia site

CEO RJ Scaringe says using Rivian’s existing plant in Normal, Ill., will allow R2 production in the first half of 2026 and save $2.25 billion compared with a later start at a future Georgia factory.
