U.K. sales grow nearly 2% in May despite drop in private demand

Registrations of battery electric vehicles claimed a 17.6 percent market share, up from 16.9 percent a year earlier, but fell short of the required 22 percent as set out by the government in the zero-emission vehicle mandate.
